Your local district has until September 2023 to use millions of dollars in ARP ESSER funds for schools, and your input is critical.
Below are a list of actions you can take to bring resources to your school and within the community.
Connect with other parents and/or school leaders to organize a meeting where you can share feedback, ideas for where ESSER funding should go, and explore opportunities for partnership.
Contact your school principal(s) and district leaders to ask when they will be pursuing community input again, how money is being spent in your community, and what success will look like. If you’re reaching out on behalf of an organization that serves students, you may also ask about partnership opportunities and the application process.
Comment at a school board meeting, to the local newspaper, or in the community on the importance of the community being involved in students’ social, emotional, and academic recovery.
You don’t have to be an expert in education to make your voice heard – You are the expert when it comes to your student and community. As a parent and/or community member, you see firsthand what students and schools need and how ESSER funds should be spent.
